An autumn surprise proposal at the Medici Fountain, photographed by Daniel. Built for Marie de’ Medici in the 1620s, the fountain’s Italian grotto framed by plane trees turning gold makes it the most romantic proposal spot on the Left Bank — quieter than the Eiffel Tower terraces, and made for a couple who wanted the moment to themselves. After the yes they wandered the Luxembourg Gardens — kisses among the famous green chairs, a lift in front of the Luxembourg Palace — before finishing at Bir-Hakeim bridge with the Eiffel Tower across the Seine. Her off-shoulder cream mini dress (and a classic trench for the bridge), his brown tweed and black scarf, and an oval diamond made it an effortlessly chic fall session.
